BUSINESSES looking to boost their exporting capabilities will benefit from two visits by the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) mobile Export Hub in Swindon on January 30.

As part of DIT’s Exporting is GREAT campaign, the hub is touring the nation with a series of events to help businesses get started in overseas trade.

The events will provide essential information on the benefits of exporting and the key steps and processes that need to be considered. Businesses will also learn about the ongoing support available from DIT.

In the year to September 2017, South West businesses exported £15.3bn worth of goods, with the UK as a whole exporting £324bn in the same period. DIT’s Exporting is GREAT campaign aims to help more businesses explore new markets overseas.

South West businesses such as Du Maurier Watches and Somerdale International have been helped to identify new exporting opportunities in the United States and China with the support of DIT advisers.

Paul Shand, south west regional director for the Department for International Trade, said: “This will provide a great chance for businesses across the region to learn more about the opportunities offered by exporting. The series of events will encourage, educate and support SMEs as they look to discover new markets.

“There is a strong demand across the world for UK goods and services, and many South West businesses are already finding success abroad. DIT is on hand to help firms manage common barriers to exporting such as cost, language and administration.

“The roadshow will run alongside other initiatives including meet the buyer events, trade missions and masterclasses on exporting and selling online, for businesses across the region. We’re encouraging all firms to register for a workshop and visit the Hub.”

DIT has over 25 experienced International Trade Advisers in the South West, as well as staff based around the world. They are ready to provide businesses with expert trade advice, market know-how and practical support for international growth.

Companies can visit the hub at the National Self-Build & Renovation Centre, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon, SN5 8UB. For more and to register visit
