A date has been set for the opening of Caffè Nero in Devizes.

Wiltshire Council granted planning consent earlier this month to turn the former Currys electrical store into a café and takeaway.

Re-fitting has started and Caffè Nero will open on August 27 employing four full-time staff and some part-time workers.

The property at 32 The Brittox was let by agents Carter Jonas and the firm’s Colin Scragg said: “It’s great to see a new business opening at any time, but especially in such challenging economic times. Every new opening contributes to the health and vitality of a town.”

Guy Mauduit, a spokesman for Caffè Nero, said: “Our aim here was, as always, to provide good coffee in a friendly environment that resonates with the locale. We look forward to welcoming the people of Devizes and providing them with an inviting place to relax, work or meet friends.”
