A Hampshire based motor insurance broking company that runs its own in-house apprenticeship scheme is helping to nurture talent on the racetrack as well as in the classroom.

Be Wiser Insurance based in Andover has been sponsoring a team in the Superstock series of motorbike racing for the past three years.

The company has now increased its sponsorship to the team to enable it to compete in the British Super Bikes championship for 2015.

Mirroring their training academy, which is run by experienced trainers helping to nurture young talent, the Be Wiser Kawasaki team has signed-up two riders with very different levels of experience.

42 year-old Chris Walker is a four-time runner-up in the British Super Bikes championship and a former winner in the Superbike World championship. He has a long association with the Kawasaki brand and with his knowledge and experience, Be Wiser believes that he will be a fantastic mentor for his teammate, up and coming 21 year-old Danny Buchan.

"I am really excited to be back out on the grid in 2015 and be part of this new project with the Be Wiser Kawasaki team," said Chris.

Danny is being promoted from his winning the Pirelli National Superstock 1,000cc Championship in the 2014 season. With many successes in his short road-racing career, he says that he's ready for a new challenge with the support of Chris and the team.

"I believe I am now ready for the move up into the premier British Superbike class and I would like to thank everyone for putting their belief in me and giving me this fantastic opportunity," said Danny.

The team is managed by former British Superbike champion Tommy Hill and is shaping up to be a serious contender for next season.

Be Wiser Kawasaki launched its new team livery at the NEC Motorcycle Live event this week.

"What a fantastic reception at the Motorcycle LIVE Show," said Tommy.  "The bike livery received a very good response, and we have made a great impact from today's launch."

By investing in its staff, both in the classroom and on the race circuit, Be Wiser Insurance hopes it's on the right track for success. So far, its Headstart (school leaver's programme), Surestart (undergraduate programme) and Kickstart (graduate programme) are attracting high calibre students who want to succeed.

"We strongly believe that investing in the next generation is critical for a successful business and we have taken this philosophy onto the race circuit with our Be Wiser Kawasaki team by giving Danny the opportunity to step-up and compete in the BSB championship," said Be Wiser director, Andrew Dunkerley.

"Like our students in the classroom, Danny will be learning from his mentor, Chris, and at the end of the day, individual success with Be Wiser Insurance is everyone's success, from trainee to managing director."
