Local MPs give pat on the back to an organisation that celebrates 10 years of helping Swindon firms with mental wellness issues.

Swindon MPs have added to the chorus of congratulations to Swindon Mindful Employer Network. The initiative began in 2008, and from humble beginnings of a handful of employers discussing mental health and sickness absence in a Swindon hotel, the network has rapidly grown in numbers and reputation.

It is funded by Public Health in Swindon and hosted at Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind.

Robert Buckland and Justin Tomlinson have both recognised the achievements of the network and the growing importance of mental wellbeing.

Robert Buckland MP, who is also Solicitor General for England and Wales, said: “The Swindon Mindful Employer Network reaching its 10th year is a remarkable achievement and highlights the increasing emphasis local employers place on workplace mental wellness and resilience.

"I have been attending network sessions since before becoming an MP and been impressed by the enthusiasm of attendees and stakeholders and it pleases me to know that Swindon has one of the largest networks of this kind and is leading the way to engage businesses on mental health.”

Justin Tomlinson MP said: “Reducing the stigma around mental health is extremely necessary and initiatives such as the Swindon Mindful Employer Network play an essential part locally. I urge local businesses to get involved and wish the network continued success in the future.”

This Swindon network is hosted by Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind and funded by Public Health at Swindon Borough Council.
