Speakers are lined up for employment conference
The speakers and programme have been confirmed for an employment conference to be held at Devizes Town Hall on May 23.
The conference is the culmination of a series of employment forums that have been held to find out what key issues are affecting businesses in the county.
Chaired by Steven Stone, chairman of the Wiltshire Strategic Economic Partnership, the conference will begin at 9.30am with coffee and registration in the vestibule and grand jury room.
Following a welcome by Mr Stone, George Bright, chairman of the West Wiltshire Economic Partnership, will highlight issues raised at the forum meetings with employers.
The forums have included representatives from the Learning & Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus, Wiltshire County Council and the Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce.
Other presentations are:
- Good employment practice, one business's experience - Paul Freestone, managing director of Trowbridge firm apetito,
- New employment initiatives from Jobcentre Plus - Claire McGulkin, customer services director, Jobcentre Plus South West,
- Solutions to attract future employees, with a new and nationally acclaimed innovation - Mandy Paterson, managing director, White Horse Employment,
- Training support and initiatives for Wiltshire employers - Marinos Paphitis, area director, Learning & Skills Council,
- Agenda for the future, where do we go from here - Alastair Cunningham, head of economic development and regeneration, Wiltshire County Council.
There will be a question and answer panel after the presentation followed by a light buffet lunch at 12.30pm.
