Professionals in Swindon and Wiltshire are to be targeted as part of a recruitment campaign to encourage the region's brightest managers into a career in colleges, work based learning and skills providers in the further education sector.
Make a Difference has been launched by Lifelong Learning UK, the independent employer-led sector skills council for the lifelong learning sector, in a bid to attract highly motivated graduate calibre individuals from across the region to management and leadership roles in accountancy, IT and human resources in further education organisations, training and skills providers.
There are more than 33 further education establishments in the South West including colleges, work based learning providers and adult and community learning providers.

By attracting managers and future leaders from outside the sector and drawing upon their experience gained in other industries, Make a Difference aims to ensure that further education organisations, training and skills providers can enhance their offering both to students and the local business community.
Natasha Tesfai, the Make a Difference project manager said: "Further education plays a significant part in the community supporting both learners and local businesses in the South West region.
"South West professionals working within the private or public sector in careers such as finance, IT, business and community engagement, marketing procurement and human resources may have never considered a career in the further education sector but there are some attractive benefits that they might not be aware of.
"Make a Difference provides participants with a tailored, leadership development programme in their first year of employment and the opportunity to fast-track to a senior leadership role.
"And with salaries for management and leadership roles within further education typically starting in the region of £32K, a move to the sector doesn't have to mean a compromise financially."
