Thwaites beer comes south for Wainwright

Beer connoisseurs in Marlborough and Cirencester will be amongst the first to get their hands on a new bottled premium ale that sees corroboration between two of Lancashire's most famous names.

Northern Brewer Daniel Thwaites has joined forces with celebrated walking legend Alfred Wainwright to brew a beer in his honour after the pair both reached milestone landmarks.

Thwaites has now been operating in Lancashire for more than 200 years, while Wainwright would have celebrated his centenary last year giving cause to commemorate the two pioneering individuals.

Now the celebrated Wainwright Ale can be enjoyed in Marlborough and Cirencester after it hit the shelves of Waitrose in the two towns.

Wainwright's profile has risen hugely since the televised series documenting his centenary celebrations hit TV screens last year and the Thwaites beer named in his honour has enjoyed the same popularity.

Now Thwaites are helping to encourage people onto Alfred Wainwright's walks by getting ramblers to send pictures of them enjoying the routes further details can be found on the website.
