Swindon jobs pay better than national average

The average salary for a job advertised in Swindon is now £1,165 more than the national average of £29,505.

New figures have been calculated for the area by jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com in its April salary index.

It has worked out the average advertised salary in Swindon is now £30,670.

AllTheTopBananas.com analysed data from 3,620 jobs advertised in Swindon between October 2007 and March 2008.

They make up 780,585 jobs analysed from around the country to get the UK average.

Dave Martin, the MD of AllTheTopBananas.com said: "We have seen average salaries rise pretty consistently over the last few months.

"But it's hard to predict how it's going to go for the rest of the year, especially if the UK manages to talk itself into a recession. We'll be watching these figures closely to see if they give any clues away about the real economic state of the UK."

AllTheTopBananas.com publishes the salary index every month as part of its mission to be the UKs most helpful jobs website.

It has access to a huge amount of jobs data, as it gathers, collects and displays jobs from hundreds of partner websites across the UK.

Right now the site has 230,192 vacancies online.
