Hot on the heels of being awarded the ‘Best Branded Coffee shop’ title in the Allegra awards, Costa is planning to increase its presence in the area as it considers locations for new stores in Swindon and Warminster in 2011, creating around 20 new jobs.

Employing 90 people in its six Swindon and Wiltshire stores (three in Swindon, one in Chippenham, one in Marlborough and one in Trowbridge), Costa has seen steady growth this year in the area with like-for-like sales up 10%.

Marcus Iggulden, Costa’s Regional Manager for Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, said: "Our existing stores in Swindon and Wiltshire are performing very well and we feel there is a strong market for more sites in both Swindon and Warminster. We hope to confirm plans in the new year.

"Our sales growth is also due to the investment we put into our store teams through recruiting talented people and excellent ongoing training. Winning the ‘Best Branded Coffee Shop’ title is really important for our baristas and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our customers."

Costa team members in the South West have also raised over £11,000 for the Costa Foundation through a wide range of fundraising events.

The Costa Foundation is dedicated to improving the welfare of coffee-growing communities in countries such as Colombia, Guatemala, Uganda, Ethiopia and Costa Rica.

The Costa Foundation’s focus on education is in direct response to requests from coffee growing communities who believe that educating their children is the best long-term solution to poverty.
