Recognition Express launches work awards

THE search is on for people in the Swindon area who knuckle down through the credit crunch and go the extra mile – whether they’re a tea lady, finance director, or charity volunteer.

Recognising that praise matters more than ever in the economic downturn, Recognition Express has launched an awards scheme to reward loyalty, hard work and commitment. And it’s offering prizes – and a well-earned pat on the back - for regional winners all over the UK.

Owner of Recognition Express West, based in Swindon, Steve Richmond said: “Because of the credit crunch, big pay rises may be thin on the ground, but praising your staff is free. And putting them up for an award can do wonders for morale.”

Recognition Express is the UK market leader in promotional products and branded clothing.

“There’s a lot of gloom and doom out there. Many organisations are having to work harder for less reward. Nevertheless, there are some fantastic staff who plough on regardless and give it their all, even though they know there may be no cash bonus at the end of it,” Steve added.

“It’s that fighting spirit, commitment and hard work we want to reward. It gives bosses a chance to say thank you for a job well done, which can be just as effective as a pay rise in keeping staff motivated.”

The Recognition Express awards, now in their sixth year, offer companies the chance to acknowledge colleagues’ loyalty and effort. There are two categories: commercial and not-for-profit organisations. They are open to organisations with fewer than 200 employees/volunteers and local branches of national organisations.

The competition is free to enter. There will be four regional winners in each category, who will go on to the national finals.

Judges will be looking for an individual who has clearly contributed more to the organisation than their job called for – going that extra mile, time after time.

Nomination forms are available at www.recognition-express.com/recognitionawards or by calling 01242 245789. The deadline for entries is 31 August 2009. Regional judging will take place in September and the national winner will be announced at the Awards dinner in October.

The prize for the national winners is a weekend break for two, plus £500 of branded clothing or promotional items for the organisations which nominated them.
