Prior Park School rides economic storm

Local independent school, Prior Park Preparatory School, has seen no evidence of an economic downturn affecting the independent school sector in Wiltshire, having drawn a record number of visitors to its latest open day.

Numbers of day and boarding pupils at the popular school in Cricklade are also increasing, as parents continue to register children for admission this academic year, even as late as half term.

Gerry Hobern, headmaster said: "It would seem that in difficult times people recognise that putting their money into their children's education at an early stage is a wise investment.

"We are delighted to have received so many visitors to our Open Day and are pleased that people continue to value the education that we offer our pupils. It is impossible to put a price on the future benefits that a good education can give a child."

Recent multi-million pound investment at the school mean that it now has excellent new sporting facilities, including its own all-weather Astroturf pitch. Complete refurbishment of boarding houses took place during the summer and a new IT suite will be installed during 2009.

Details of the next Prior Park open morning in March are published on the school website.
