The Forum of Private Business is responding to the Competition Commission's assertion that independent shops are not in terminal decline as a result of large supermarkets' dominance of the groceries market, by pointing to evidence suggesting that the opposite is true.
Commenting on Floodgates or Turnstiles, the new report on migration published by the Institute for Public Policy Research, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said: "The report shows once again that migration is not a threat to Britain's workers or society at large, as long as migrant workers are treated the same as the existing workforce and the laws on working conditions are properly enforced.
