The 50 Best Green Companies in the Southwest are revealed in the inaugural Sunday Times Green List published with The Sunday Times this Sunday.

Severnprint of Gloucester tops the list of the Best Green Companies in the Southwest, a definitive guide to businesses with the most radically improved environmental performances.

Uniquely, the survey takes account of the views of employees - who get to rate their organisation's green credentials - as well as assessing the environmental performance, policies and practices of businesses.

Severnprint beat a host of other companies, big and small with varying environmental impacts, to lift the regional titl.

Good Energy, the Wiltshire-based renewable power supplier from Chippenham ranks second in the region, but no company in the UK had more environmentally aware staff, earning it a special award.

Good Energy supplies 100 per cent renewable power to 24,000 homes and businesses across the UK and it follows through on these principles at the home base.

Its green office measures include installing renewable electricity supplies and lower-power lighting units, plus insulation to reduce heat loss.

The firm offers a bike-to-work scheme and an ethically invested pension.

This is a company where staff demonstrate their support and commitment to the company's green initiatives through their day-to-day behaviour.

It tops the employee survey in 28 of the 52 scoring questions.

Employees are more aware of the environmental implications of the work they do than any others in the survey and they earned Good Energy the special award for having the greenest employees.
