Cashback sites help internet shoppers
CANNY internet shoppers are saving hundreds of pounds a year by using cashback sites which pay them commission on every purchase they make.
More than £46bn was spent online in the UK last year, a hike of more than 50 from 2006 according to the Interactive Media in Retail Group the online retailers body, but experts say too many consumers are paying over the odds for goods.
www.internetcashback.co.uk has more than 20,000 members and offers cash to people who buy goods from more than 700 major online retailers including Argos, Apple, B&Q, John Lewis and British Airways.
More than 500 people sign up to the site every week.
The publishers of www.internetcashback.co.uk split the revenue generated from commissions paid by retailers to websites which drive sales for them. The amounts that can be earned vary between three per cent and 15 per cent of the purchase prices or lump sums of up to £50.
Registering with the site earns the user £10 to add to their personal cashback account.
