A new website aims to reunite people with their lost animals. LEIGH ROBINSON speaks to the two men who have set up a network for finding the missing ones.
EVERY day more than 800 pets go missing in Britain - which equates to nearly 300,000 a year.
But now a website has been set up to try and reunite people with their lost pets.
The aim of netmypet.com is to sign up thousands of owners and their pets.
Users are encouraged to register their pets so if they do go missing, they can simply tap in a few details and everybody registered within five miles will know via email within seconds.
Recipients can then contact the owner via the website with any relevant information.
Neil Edwards, co-founder of netmypet.com, said: "Losing a pet is one of the most emotionally painful experiences a family can go through.
"Netmypet.com has been designed to quickly and efficiently alert the greatest number of vigilant searchers in the local area, in order to maximise the chances of people finding their missing pets.
"However, netmypet.com is more than just a lost and found facility online.
"As well as being free to use, the website is designed to appeal to the modern internet user by offering users social networking opportunities and friendship with other pet owners in their locality.
"Users can create profile pages for their pets with fun kept in mind when created."
Justin Denno, who helped set up the site, said: "Our aim is to get every responsible pet owner in the UK on the website which is why we have made registration quick, easy and free."
Born in Oxfordshire, Justin, now 26, has been fascinated with business from an early age.
After various ventures at school and college, Justin finished his education to start a corporate catering business in Abingdon which he ran successfully with six staff for five years before selling up.
His love for pets, combined with a constant desire for improvement, led to the novel netmypet.com idea to which he is totally committed.
Neil, 26, was born in Swindon but has lived in Faringdon all his life.
He attended Highworth Warneford School before studying A-levels at New College. He later attended Swindon College art school where he achieved an HND in graphic design.
He worked for a number of design and advertising agencies, both in the UK and the US, before specialising in internet marketing.
He has been employed by one of the UK's top digital agencies where his work was gaining global recognition.
Earlier this year he started his own digital design agency, Hyro Online, based just outside Faringdon.
