A new business centre has been opened by Swindon's leading private hire firm, V Cars.
And, based at the town's railway station, it is the perfect location for business people getting on and off the trains.
V Business is in the premises of the former Red Star parcel depot, near the station's short stay car park. Open 24 hours a day, seven-days a week and providing excellent meeting facilities, it is ideal for anything from a short stop-off between trains or a place to wait while a cab arrives, to an all-day meeting.
The entire premises are wi-fi connected, and access is free.
Inside the spacious reception area, where V Cars staff can herald a taxi, there is ample seating, drinks and snacks machines, a large widescreen television and a station train information monitor.
For £6, people can access a comfortable lounge area which includes complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks, plus another television screen, and train monitor.
The area is ideal for meetings and could provide a perfect half-way point for people coming from Bristol, London and elsewhere.
On top of this are three meeting rooms, two of which are boardroom size, which can be booked for £200 a day, or £150 for a half day.
"If you come off a train and need a cab, or have just arrived by cab, or just want to have a meeting, it's the perfect place," said V Business manager Terri Western. "And this way, if people are coming from long-distances, it gives them the chance to meet in the middle."
V Business is networked up to V Cars' Groundwell headquarters, so staff have easy and instant access to the company's 400 cars, while customers wait in the warm.
V Cars general manager Dan Lane said he hadn't come across another private hire company running a similar venture, but was convinced it would prove popular.
"I've used it myself already, when I had a meeting with someone travelling down from Essex," he said. "Rather than her trying to find her way to Groundwell, or a meeting place in the town centre, she just had to make her way to V Business.
"First Great Western are very supportive. We provide vehicles to take their passengers to their destinations when there are train problems, and this means people can now wait in comfort while we organise their cab transport rather than waiting on the platforms."
On Saturday nights there will be a marshal to provide security between 1am and 4am, so people booking a V Cars vehicle could wait at the business centre in a safe environment.
